- Introduction
Pahichan Nepal invites qualified and experienced individual consultants to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to undertake a focused research on the impact of harmful practices, particularly dowry and early marriage, on women with disabilities (WWDs) in Madhesh Province. This research aims to generate evidence for advocacy and policy engagement.
- Objectives of the Consultancy
- Investigate the prevalence and impact of dowry and early marriage on women with disabilities in Madhesh.
- Understand the socio-cultural dynamics that perpetuate these practices.
- Support evidence-based advocacy and awareness initiatives.
- Contribute to policy recommendation and knowledge building.
- Scope of Work for Individual Consultant
The individual consultant will be responsible for:
- Designing the research framework, tools, and methodology.
- Conducting field visits and community preparatory meetings.
- Facilitating data collection activities, including surveys, interviews, and FGDs.
- Conducting literature review and analysis.
- Facilitating a provincial consultation workshop.
- Finalizing the research report and advocacy recommendations in national level dialogue platforms
- Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Disability Studies, or related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in research and analysis on gender or disability.
- Proven experience in conducting both qualitative and quantitative field research.
- Familiarity with the socio-cultural context of Madhesh Province.
- Excellent skills in research writing in English and Nepali.
- Strong coordination and facilitation skills.

- Inception report with final tools
- Summary of community preparatory meetings in Bara, Mahottari and Sarlahi districts of Madhesh Province
- Draft research report and literature review summary
- Documentation and facilitation report of provincial consultation
- Final research report with evidence-based recommendations
- Summary advocacy brief (English and Nepali)
The tentative working days will be 20. The contract will be between the consultant and Pahichan Nepal.
