Consultation on Issues of Single Women with Disabilities

Consultation on Issues of Single Women with Disabilities Date: 4 Ashoj 2082 (20 September 2025) Pahichan Nepal, in partnership with Tewa, organized a consultation program to collect inputs for a declaration addressing the issues of single women with disabilities. The program aimed to document lived experiences and priority concerns of single women with disabilities to strengthen advocacy and policy engagement. Founder Chairperson of Pahichan Nepal, Ichha KC, shared that the declaration will serve as an important advocacy tool. The event was conducted under the chief guestship of Mr. Haridatta Joshi, Acting Chairperson of the National Inclusive Commission. Mr. Devi Dutta Acharya, Federal President of the National Federation of the Disabled–Nepal, and Mr. Shishir Khanal, President of the Nepal Blind Union, participated as discussants. More than 20 single women with disabilities actively participated and shared their experiences, challenges, and recommendations. The consultation laid a strong foundation for a rights-based declaration centered on the voices of single women with disabilities.

Inclusive Community Meetings for Women with Disabilities

Inclusive Community Meetings for Women with Disabilities Under the SAHAS Project, inclusive community meetings were organized on Wednesday, 19 Kartik 2082 (November 5, 2025) to raise awareness about the situation of women with disabilities, their level of awareness, and the support available from local governments. An inclusive community meeting for women with disabilities was held in Bagda Loharpatti Municipality–1, Mahottari District, focusing on the social, economic, and service-related challenges faced by women with disabilities and the importance of community participation. On the same day, another community meeting was conducted in Banara Village, Bardibas Municipality–6, with the participation of both men and women. The discussion highlighted the status of women with disabilities in the community, existing awareness gaps, and the role of local governments in ensuring inclusive services and support. These meetings aimed to strengthen community awareness, promote inclusive attitudes, and encourage meaningful engagement of local authorities in safeguarding the rights, dignity, and participation of women with disabilities.

UN Women and the UK Government hosted a two-day workshop in Madhesh Province

Through the Hamro Sahas initiative, UN Women and the UK Government hosted a two-day workshop in Madhesh Province, bringing together women leaders, youth advocates, and frontline practitioners. Pahichan Nepal and its partner organizations were also part of this meaningful gathering. Day 1 focused on collective care and healing, with participants using art, movement, and creative expression to reconnect with themselves and each other. Day 2 explored the different forms of gender-based violence, especially in digital spaces. Through sharing stories and discussions, participants co-created ideas for safer online environments. The workshop reinforced that care, creativity, solidarity, and collective action are essential for preventing violence and building inclusive, compassionate communities—online and offline.
